Windscreen outer rubber seal.

ACs from mid 1948 onwards, had a metal frame for the windscreen. Up until about 1950/51, wipers were parked off the screen and need a seal with a gentle ramp. This same seal was fitted on later ACs too.

I found a very close match that had an extra ridge on the back. I have trimmed this ridge off by hand, which is not visible after installation.

With the screen mounted on the car, you can push the thick edge of the rubber into the groove on the frame. If you push it initially in from the front, you can then use a wide/blunt screwdriver under the seal, to push it in from behind (being careful not to cut into the rubber).

To get the rubber around the screen corners, you need to heat the rubber up a little. Then some suitable sealant under the edges.

Length supplied (3.5 metres/138 inches) can be trimmed to suit. The original join between the ends of the seal, as done by AC, was at an angle of approx. 45 degrees (at the bottom of the screen).

New.
