Screen pillar edging
A thin strip of plywood runs along the outer edge (right-hand edge as you view it in this photo) so that the door is not flush. This part is probably omitted from the ACs that have a longer guttering extending down to scuttle level. Most gutters end above windscreen level, and you can see the nail holes for this.
