Rear Carpet

This carpet covers the aluminium cross-member that supports the rear seat cushion. Its upper edge has leathercloth sewn onto it, and the top edge of the leathercloth is tucked under the rear seat cushion and stuck down to the alloy panelling (originally trim was stcuk down with bitumen). Each end of the carpet is cut into a large tab that tucks underneather the main floor carpets.

The photo below shows that the leathercloth is sewn face-down onto the front of the carpet. It is then folded back onto itself.

Here is a close up of the cut-out for the transmission tunnel. The sides were splayed outwards when this carpet was originally cut out, but this serves no useful purpose, and it will distort less if cut out with parallel sides to the U cut-out.
