Most of the information here comes from period Lucas publications. A few details may be incorrect, and I have added my own comments where necessary. The Lucas data covered years up to 1954, hence 1955 onwards is not shown. For some reason, Lucas omitted 1947 from many references.

The earlier control box incorporates the fuses and there is no separate fuse box (although very early wiring diagrams show an extra fuse for side/tail lamps). The series 1 and 2 AC handbooks illustrate the wrong control box, although the earliest 1947/48 ACs may have had the one illustrated?

The AC handbook also refers to earlier distributors part numbers 40143A, B or D, with lower lift cams requiring smaller contact breaker gap (0.011 vs 0.018 ). Lucas parts list shows all versions to have the same cam (407168), and only 40143F fitted to the post-war AC.

Horn relay

Early cars had no horn relay. They were earthed via the horn switch when pressed, requiring a thick lead for the heavy current.

AC's handbook simply states bulb 354 for the headlamps in the UK.
Although it states 8 inches above, that is the outer diameter of the mounting bowl and the decorative rim. Lens diameter is approximately 7 inches, as the model name F700 implies.

The earlier CR1 model has wipers (straight-arms) that park off the screen, and are parked there by hand (via the control box). The later CR4 and CRT14 models park the wipers on-screen, and so need cranked/handed arms. These park at the bottom edge with blades parallel to the screen frame. Model CRT14 has a thermostatic cut-out.
